Economics
Higher Economics
We have introduced Economics as a Higher subject for S6 pupils in session 2023/24.
Learners are encouraged to transfer their skills and knowledge from various other disciplines such as Business, Maths and Modern Studies, developing their knowledge of both macro- and micro-economic concepts.
Economics is becoming a more popular choice of subject to study in further and higher education.
Economics is about choice and its impact. Studying economics gives candidates an appreciation of how markets and governments work, and how economic decisions affect our lives. It also helps candidates understand and make use of economic information to analyse, interpret, predict, and explain the actions of individuals, firms and governments, in a range of economic situations.
