Hadrian's Wall Trip

Friday 22nd June to Sunday 24th June

The department of classics runs this popular trip each summer, towards the end of June.
The trip is open to all pupils, but places fill up as soon as letters are issued.

Itinerary

Friday Night
Arrival at youth hostel, allocation of rooms, settling in.

Saturday
Our full day on site gives us the chance to visit military forts and museums, and to walk along the most dramatic stretch of Hadrian’s Wall. A head for heights can be an advantage! We find time to stop for cake at the Roman bathhouse, and for pupils to take souvenir photographs. At night we return to the hostel for the ever-popular Saturday Quiz, with prizes for winners.

Sunday
We round off the tour with visits to the newly refurbished Roman Army Museum and Vindolanda – perhaps the most valuable Roman site in Britain. Reconstructions allow pupils to see the walls restored to their original size.

Music Trip 2012 - Rhineland

Madras College Music Department would like to offer your son/daughter the opportunity to join us on our next Music Tour from 29th June- 6th July 2012. Next years concert trip to RHINELAND, Germany includes visits /concerts in Koblenz, Cochem and Ruddesheim as well as a day at Phantasialand Theme Park.

Previous bi-annual tours have proved to be very successful in all aspects and extremely popular. The inclusion of a new type of group - a Scottish Folk Group - will provide the opportunity for a wider range of musicians (Guitarists, clarsach, penny whistles and singers) to take part.

This tour is open to anyone who already performs with - or wishes to take part in - any of the schools regular performing groups. The cost for this tour, organised through NST Music Tours, is £560 which is payable in instalments.

An application form containing the Itinerary for the tour is available from any member of the music department.
