Why did you decide to become a teacher?

Mr Wishart
I have always enjoyed English and reading books so teaching English was an obvious choice for me. I also enjoy teaching guidance because I like having an impact on a pupil’s life beyond the classroom.

What is your favourite memory from high school?

Mr Wishart
It was the last day of sixth year and we were all gathered in the assembly hall of the old school building. Just being with my friends, surrounded by great people—it is a really potent memory for me.

What advice would you give to those applying for university?

Mr Wishart
Preparation is really important. Treat your personal statement like an exam essay.

What interested you in becoming part of the school’s Ohio exchange?

Mr Wishart
The same reason as the pupils, really. I’m interested in America and Ohio is a state I haven’t been to yet. I like the fact that Columbus is not your typical tourist destination.
