USA - Upper Arlington High School, Columbus, Ohio

In 1998 a link was made between Madras and Upper Arlington following a teacher exchange programme. The link was made to create a community link between the town where famous Golfer Jack Nicklaus was brought up and the town with the famous Old Course where he has won the British Open in 1970 and 1978.

Each year 15 pupils and two members of staff from Madras travel to Columbus, Ohio in their October Holidays to spend roughly 10 days living with an American family and experiencing the American lifestyle and school system. The Upper Arlington group return to St Andrews in March.
