Hadrian's Wall Trip
The department of classics runs this popular trip each summer, towards the end of June. The trip is open to all pupils, but places fill up as soon as letters are issued.
Friday Night

Arrival at youth hostel, allocation of rooms, settling in.

Our full day on site gives us the chance to visit military forts and museums, and to walk along the most dramatic stretch of Hadrian’s Wall. A head for heights can be an advantage! We find time to stop for cake at the Roman bathhouse, and for pupils to take souvenir photographs. At night we return to the hostel for the ever-popular Saturday Quiz, with prizes for winners.

We round off the tour with visits to the newly refurbished Roman Army Museum and Vindolanda – perhaps the most valuable Roman site in Britain. Reconstructions allow pupils to see the walls restored to their original size.
