Facilities

Kilrymont Road Library has seating for 33, with study tables and a computer area with 5 computers and a mono laser printer.

The Library uses an automated Library system, Heritage. There is an on-line Library catalogue station (the OPAC). All Library resources held on both sites are listed here. Users can search by single word or phrase, or for author, title, keywords and genre.

Resources

Books

Kilrymont Road Library has over 5,000 fiction books and 10,000 non-fiction titles, ranging from easy-to-read to classic fiction, and information for all levels of ability.  We also have magazines. Whilst we do not take a hard copy daily paper, there is access online.

Supporting study across the curriculum

The Library prepares guides to study and information skills, and lists print and on-line resources for various units of study for all year groups. These are also available on the school network, in the Library folder of the Pupils’ yeargroup. Click on the Resources button in the sidebar to find links to the areas you are studying.

Borrowing

Pupils are allowed one fiction book and one non-fiction book at a time. This is only reduced if there is a history of books being returned overdue.

  • Books are issued for a two-week period. If pupils are due to have a planned absence (eg hospital or holiday) they can arrange an extension at the time of issue.
  • Loans may be renewed, but the book must be presented to be restamped.
  • If books become overdue, no further books are issued until the loan is cleared.
  • Pupils are responsible for the items they take out. If any are lost or damaged, they are charged a replacement cost.
  • Overdue reminders are sent to class. If we get no result from the reminder, or if we are approaching a holiday period, letters are sent home with a note of the replacement cost due if the book cannot be returned.
  • Books must be returned to Library staff to be "discharged" from the reader's record on the Library system. If the Library is closed, books may be handed in to the Pupil Admin office, next door to the Library.
