Welcome to Madras College Library!
Our aim is to promote and support an appreciation and love of reading for pleasure; and to contribute to learning and teaching in school by offering resources, facilities and training to users to develop their skills in confident, discerning and independent information-handling and learning. We also aim to support pupils in their personal well-being, development and growth in their path to adulthood.
We have two Libraries at Madras College: one on each site with a combined total stock of over 20,000 items.
Both Libraries offer the following:
- A range of fiction; literature in English and other languages;
- Reference and non-fiction (information) books, newspapers and magazines;
- Computer access for research and preparing presentations.
Library staff are on hand to help staff and pupils identify, locate, evaluate and use appropriate resources. Collections of books can be sent to classrooms to support learning.
Guides to resources to support specific units of work and courses are listed in the Library folders on the school network; and here, to assist those who wish to work at home.
If a requested item is not in stock, we have access to books in the Fife Public Library system, and to the British Library Interlibrary loans service.
For details of each Library, please see the individual pages for each site.
