Music can be studied at National 4, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher.  

Pupils who choose the subject will study music 4 periods per week.

 

All courses cover three main elements:

Performing

Two instruments (OR one instrument plus voice) are required in all of the courses.

Performing levels:

National 3 - minimum standard Associated Board grade 2
National 4 - minimum standard Associated Board grade 3
Higher - minimum standard Associated Board grade 4
Advanced Higher - minimum standard Associated Board grade 5

Length of programmes are as follows:
Nat 5 - 8 minutes.
Higher - 12 minutes.
Advanced Higher - 20 minutes

Listening

Pupils develop a knowledge of concepts.

Inventing

Pupils develop a portfolio of compositions, using a variety of skills/ideas/sounds. Music theory is also studied.
